Overview of the Seasonic PRIME Line

 

Why PRIME Is Our Flagship

PRIME series is Seasonic’s flagship product, combining the highest quality, efficiency, and technical excellence. 

 

It was created in response to the need for reliable, powerful, and durable power supplies. The PRIME series includes models with 80 PLUS® Titanium, Platinum, and Gold certification. These guarantees up to 94% efficiency and stable system operation even under heavy loads. 

 

All models in the series are fully modular, have minimal voltage ripple, long hold-up time, and a full set of protections – OPP, OVP, UVP, SCP, etc. Some models are completely silent in Fanless mode or are very quiet thanks to hybrid cooling.

Key Upgrades in 2025 (ATX 3.1 & PCIe 5.1 readiness)

In 2025, Seasonic significantly updated its flagship PRIME TX ATX 3.1 series. The core mission of the changes was to meet the new ATX 3.1 and PCIe 5.1 standards. These updates are based on the flagship PRIME TX platform with added new technologies and hardware changes. Updates include the following options:

  1. Native 12V-2×6 (16-pin) connectors that comply with the PCIe 5.1 specification instead of the old 12VHPWR cables.
  2. Improved voltage stability with regulation within less than 0.5% thanks to Micro Tolerance Load Regulation technology.
  3. Use of Japanese capacitors with thermal stability up to 105°C and digital fan control, for long-lasting and quiet operation.

The new models were released right away in China. In other regions –  from the beginning of 2025.

 

TX vs PX vs GX – Which One Fits Your Build?

 

Efficiency Tier (Titanium / Platinum / Gold)

80 PLUS® certification is an energy efficiency standard for computer power supplies. Having this label means they’re efficient at converting electric current from the mains into direct current. 

 

Here are the core 80 PLUS® certifications Seasonic offers:

Voltage Regulation & Ripple Figures

Seasonic PRIME TX, PRIME PX, and PRIME GX series power supplies are renowned by their extremely high voltage regulation stability. Their deviation on the +12 V line usually does not exceed ±0.5%. This ensures the stable and reliable operation of computer systems even under high loads. 

 

The ripple level in these PSUs is significantly lower than the established standards: 

  • on the 12 V line, it’s up to 16.54 mV, 
  • on the 5 V line – up to 6.52 mV,

Hybrid Fan Control Curve Explained

Hybrid fan control is an innovative technology from Seasonic. Its essence is that it optimizes the balance between effective cooling and low noise levels in power supplies. It operates in three modes: 

  1. Fanless Mode. The fan doesn’t operate at loads up to 30–40% (approximately 300–400 W).
  2. Silent Mode. The fan operates at low speeds, providing effective cooling at moderate loads.
  3. Cooling Mode. The fan runs at high speed under high load, providing maximum cooling.

This technology significantly reduces noise levels when the computer is idle or under light load. This hybrid fan control from Seasonic gives you the best of both worlds when it comes to quietness and cooling efficiency.

Core Technologies Inside PRIME

 

Full-Bridge LLC & DC-to-DC Topology

At Seasonic, we use Full-Bridge LLC topology in our prime, high-performance power supplies. It is particularly effective in the PRIME PSU series. Supporting 80 PLUS® Platinum and Titanium certifications.

 

The work principle is as follows. On the primary side (input), we use a Full-Bridge + LLC-resonant circuit. It provides soft switching and high efficiency while reducing heat loss. 

 

On the secondary side, we use synchronous rectifiers (for +12 V rails) and DC-DC converters for 5 V and 3.3 V lines. This helps save more energy and keeps the output voltage more stable.

 

Thus, the Full-Bridge LLC topology in Seasonic’s premium PC power supplies helps achieve maximum efficiency, stability, and effective thermal management. Secondary DC-DC converters help keep the voltage steady, and the vertical layout makes the system quieter and easier to use for every PC enthusiast.

The Seasonic PRIME series is equipped with PSUs that support 12V-2×6 connectors, comply with ATX 3.0 and PCIe 5.1 standards. They directly provide up to 600W of power to handle modern graphics cards’ operations and other “heavy” PC tasks.

 

These cables are primarily designed for high-performance PCs, including gaming and professional systems. They are suitable for Seasonic PRIME TX, PX, VERTEX GX, and FOCUS GX models with a power rating of 650W and above. 

 

For safe use, both 12V-2×6 cable connectors must be fully connected to the power supply. We recommend checking that they are securely connected so that the current flows directly through the cables to your PC. They’re also backward compatible with the previous 12VHPWR standard, so they can be used with it.
